Dinner of “nasi campur” again at our favorite restaurant Miro’s Garden |
In Bali, mixed rice called Nasi campur Bali or simply Balinese rice is a favorite among tourists. This version of Balinese rice mix is probably the most internationally renowned version, largely due to the "Balinese factor", the popularity of Bali as a resort island among international visitors.
The tastes are often distinctively local, punctuated by a genetic base, a blend of typical Balinese spices used as the basis for many curry and vegetable dishes. The Balinese version of mixed rice may have grilled tuna, fried tofu, cucumber, spinach, tempeh, beef cutlet, vegetable curry, corn, chilli sauce on rice bed.
Mixed rice is often sold by street vendors, wrapped in banana leaves.
As a predominantly Hindu island, the Balinese version might add bolsters of lawar and pork in their mixed-rice fare.
However, the halal version is available, with chicken betutu, sate wrap, and egg to accompany the rice.
