Becak |
Becak (from Hokkien: be chia "horse-drawn carriage") is a three-wheeled mode of transportation commonly found in Indonesia and also in parts of Asia. The normal capacity of the rickshaw is two passengers and a driver. Becoming a pedicab driver is one of the easiest ways to earn a living, so the number of becak drivers in the high unemployment area will be very high. Pedicabs were banned in Jakarta around the end of the 1980s. The official reason was that becak was "human exploitation of man", and becak was replaced by Bajaj, Helicak.
