The Balinese wayang kulit show has two kinds of theme themes:
spiritual theme, and theme of entertainment.
The skin with the theme of spiritual performances is very sacred by Hindus in Bali.
At certain religious ceremonies, puppet shows can be found as a main or complementary part of the ceremony.
While the wayang kulit shows with entertainment themes are usually found in folklore and have a contemporary plot and are often associated with social issues that develop in society.
In general, based on the timing of the performance, Balinese shadow puppet can be divided into two types, namely the weak puppets and wayang peteng.
Pertayang puppet show generally involves about 3-15 people including: puppeteer, accompanist, and if needed a pair of maid dalang (tututan).
Just like the wayang kulit show in Java, the main leader as well as the voice of the puppet show dubbed the puppeteer. To perform the puppets, Balinese puppeteers require about 125 - 130 pieces of wayang
